Leaving the house with kids!

When you’re kidless all you really need to leave the house is your keys, wallet and phone. This may take a whole 5 minutes tops!

When you leave the house with kids, it’s a completely different story. Let’s see…I’ll make a ‘little‘ list

  • Nappy Bag
  • Nappies (small for baby, larger for toddler)
  • Dummy
  • Wipes
  • Scented nappy bags
  • Change of baby clothes
  • Change of toddler clothes
  • Change of mum’s top incase of spitup
  • Formula holder
  • Warm bottle
  • Hot bottle (for later)
  • Bib
  • Baby Blanket
  • Toys for toddler
  • Pram
  • Wallet
  • Keys
  • Phone
  • And oh yeah…the two kids! Who need to be dressed. This in itself can take 1 hour to acheive.

You see, the list is endless. Parents may as well pack their entire house to take with them. What use to take 5 minutes, now takes 2 hours!

Sometimes I wonder if it’s even worth it leaving the house. You can now get basically everything online. Groceries, toys, clothes meals etc, so why bother with the hassle.

ISOLATION! That’s why. Most parents would have to agree that when you have kids, being trapped inside, is not good for your mental health, day after day after day. So it’s best to make the effort, as hard as it is, to get out and about amongst the busy surrounding world, leaving behind your parenting bubble, that’s most often not, filled with laundry, dishes and toy clutter.
